Kok
Mei Li
In 999, an eight year old student from Bukit Bintang Girls School (2) took her first step in the world of rhythmic gymnastics. Now, eight years later, Kok Mei Li trains with a Russian coach under the Sukan Teras Department of the National Sports Council.
Over the years, she has participated in numerous competitions such as MSSMKL, MSSM, Sport Excel, Sukan Wanita Kebangsaan, Malaysian Open, SUKMA and Pesta Gimnastik. In addition to that, she also represented her country in the Sattri-Withaya Competition in Thailand, the Snow Cup Competition in Japan where she obtained a silver medal for individual all around and the 2005 Australian Youth Olympic Festival.
In the 2007 MSSM games, she bagged 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals including a gold medal for individual all round. In fact she has been a regular medal winner at the MSSM and MSSKL games since 2003.
She feels that rhythmic gymnastics is a very beautiful yet competitive sport and moral support is essential. “I am very grateful of the support from my family, coaches, school and friends throughout the years.”
