School
History

1895
The Chinese Girls' School moved to the Chinese Gospel Hall
at Davidson Road. Four of its classes were held in the main building, two in the vestry of the hall.
1930
The school shifted to a new site on a 7.9 hectare piece of
land along Bukit Bintang Road. The school
building, which cost RM 15,000, compromised six rooms, a hall
and an office.
1941
The first block was extended to include four classrooms and
a staff room.
1947
The school held it's first funfair that raised RM 5,000. With
this money the school built two temporary
classrooms (nicknames "Buckingham Palace") which later
became the old tuckshop.
1950
On January 4, the Prouse Wing was opened, named after the current
headmistress, Miss Prouse.
1960
The Primary Section moved into a new building next door. A
central library was started and a new more
spacious staff-room built.
1962
The long-awaited Lee Kuo Chuan Secondary School Hall was officially
opened by En. Aminuddin bin Baki, Chief Education Adviser on
1st September 1962. The school premises further expanded to
include the new Domestic Science Wing.
1963
Thanks to Mr. Soo Putt, the old school hall was converted into
a bigger and grander library with an
air-conditioned section. The school acquired the land behind
the school and turned it into the school field,
enabling the first athletic meet to be held that very year.
1971
The Canteen Block was built at the side of the former "Buckingham
Palace". Overlooking the Weld Road
swimming pool, the new block housed and Art room, five classrooms
and a canteen occupying the ground floor.
1978/1979
This year saw the birth of gymnastics in BBGS when the gym
behind the school hall was completed.The
Junior Library Block was opened (later converted into Bilik
Bestari 2 in 1999).
1999
The school officially became one of the many Bestari Schools,
lead by Pn. Noor Rezan bt Bapoo Hashim, who was the first Bestari
School headmistress. The Media Room and Junior Library were
converted to Bilik Bestari 1 for Bahasa Malaysia / English and
Bilik Bestari 2 for Mathemathics / Science.
2000
The school officially changed its name from SMK (P) Bukit Bintang
to SMK Seri Bintang (Utara) on 1st Januari
2000.
2001
The school moved to the new premise in Taman Shamelin.
